Fractional numerals (bólshektik san esim) are formed:

Numeral + Ilik septik (denominator) affix Numeral + the third person affix (numerator) = bestiń biri 

  • The second method. The first of the combined cardinal numerals is the denominator (bólimi). It is formed by the affix of the original case (shyǵys septik) -dan, -den, -tan, -ten, -nan, -nen, and the second numerator (alymy) can be formed by the third person affix.

Numeral + Shyǵys septik (denominator) + Numeral (numerator) = besten bir(i)

The use of fractional numerals in sentences

  • Jer betiniń úshten bir qurylyq, al úshten eki sý alyp jatyr. One-third of the earth’s surface is land and two-thirds is water.
  • Jumystyń ekiden biri isteldi, qalǵan jartysyn jaqynda bitiremiz. A half of the work has been completed, and the rest will be completed very soon.
  • Qókónistiń úshten biri, jemistiń tórtten úshi jıyld. One-third of the vegetables and three-quarters of the fruit were harvested.
  • Jınalysqa kelgenderdiń besten ekisi Moskvadan, altydan biri Almatydan, jartysy basqa elderden keldi. Two-fifths of the participants came from Moscow, one-sixth from Almaty, and a half from other countries.
